Hyderabad is two cities that happen to share an Outer Ring Road. There is the old one around Charminar and the Musi, and the new one out west — HITEC City, Gachibowli, Kondapur — where most of the recent arrivals work and live. Between them sit Jubilee Hills and Banjara Hills, which is why so many first meetings happen there: it is the part both halves can reach without resenting it. The ring road genuinely helps, and a cross-city trip that would be punishing in Bengaluru or Mumbai is merely long here. Evenings are the main event, especially between October and February; Necklace Road and Tank Bund fill up after sunset, and the film-going habit is strong enough that a cinema is a perfectly ordinary first plan. The tech corridor means a lot of people here moved for a job and are open about saying so.

West Hyderabad or the old city — where do people actually meet?

Usually somewhere in between, which in practice means Jubilee Hills or Banjara Hills. Anyone working in HITEC City or Gachibowli will suggest staying west on a weekday, and the old city around Charminar tends to be a weekend plan rather than an after-work one. Naming your side of the ring road early saves a lot of negotiation.

Is a film a reasonable first date in Hyderabad?

More reasonable than in most cities, because going to the cinema is a genuine local habit rather than a last resort. The usual advice still applies — you cannot talk through a film — so people here often pair it with something before or after rather than treating the screening itself as the whole evening.
