What a permanent ban actually does.
You are signed out on every device, and you stay signed out.
The email address and phone number on the account cannot be used to make a new one.
There is no seven-day version and no thirty-day version. A ban is lifted by a person deciding to lift it, or not at all.
Deleting a banned account removes your data, but it does not give you your access back and it does not free up that email or number.
What a ban looks like from your side: nothing. You are not sent a notice inside the app — signing in simply stops working. Which means that if the app has stopped letting you in and you do not know why, writing to us is the correct move, not guessing. Jump to appeals.
Nine things that end an account.
Not a legal list. The nine behaviours that in practice get accounts removed, in the order they actually happen.
1. Do not upload an explicit photo.
Every photo is checked before anyone else can see it. An explicit one ends the account.
How to stay clear of it: upload photos you would be comfortable having on a public profile. Nudity and sexually explicit images are not allowed. A drink in your hand is fine.
Ends your account2. Do not be under 18, and do not help anyone who is.
An account found to belong to someone under 18 is removed. So is one used to reach a minor, and that one is reported onward as well.
How to stay clear of it: enter your real birth date at sign-up. An account created with a false date is still an underage account when it comes to light.
Ends your account3. Do not ask a match for money.
Investment tips, crypto, trading groups, a sudden emergency, a friend's medical bill, a payment link, gift cards, a job that needs a deposit. Every one of these ends the account.
How to stay clear of it: do not discuss money with people you met on a dating app, in either direction. If you are on the receiving end, report and do not send anything.
Ends your account4. Do not use someone else's face.
Photos of a friend, a stranger, a model or a celebrity. A profile built on someone else's pictures is removed.
How to stay clear of it: use your own photos. If you want the tick, take the camera check — it takes about thirty seconds.
Ends your account5. Do not keep messaging someone who stopped replying.
Threats, insults, slurs and repeated unwanted contact after someone has gone quiet.
How to stay clear of it: silence is an answer. Unmatch and move on — it costs you nothing and the feed is full of other people.
Ends your account6. Do not send unsolicited sexual content.
Images, voice notes or messages. "They matched with me" is not consent to receive it, and this is the most-reported behaviour on every dating app that exists.
How to stay clear of it: wait to be asked. If you have to wonder whether it is welcome, it is not yet.
Ends your account7. Do not sell, promote or recruit.
Your business, your channel, your MLM, your event, your agency. Cosmic Match is not a distribution list and profiles used as one are removed.
How to stay clear of it: keep the profile about you.
Ends your account8. Do not automate, script or tamper.
Bulk-liking tools, bots, scrapers, modified builds, or anything aimed at granting yourself swipes, Stardust or a tier you did not pay for.
How to stay clear of it: install the app from the official store when it is there, and use it as it comes.
Ends your account9. Do not publish someone's private messages or details.
Screenshotting a conversation onto social media, forwarding a voice note, sharing someone's number, address or workplace.
How to stay clear of it: treat a private conversation as private. If something in it needs to be seen, report it — that is what puts it in front of a moderator without putting it in front of everyone.
Ends your accountA report on its own is not a ban. Reports are read by a person, and a moderator who reads a reported conversation can see the whole thing — including whatever prompted it. Being reported by someone you turned down does not end your account.

Automatic moderation is fast and it is not infallible. A person will read your message and look at the account.

Send from the email address on the banned account, or tell us the phone number it was registered with. Those are the only identifiers we hold, so they are the only way to find you.
Say what you think happened
Roughly when you lost access, and anything you think triggered it — a photo you had just uploaded, a conversation that went badly. A guess is more useful than nothing.
What happens next
We reply either way. If the ban was wrong it is lifted in full — the account and both identifiers — and you sign back in with everything intact. If it stands, we say so.
Appeals about rule 2 and rule 3 above — anything involving a minor — are not reversed on appeal.
The ones people actually ask.
Can I just make a new account?
No. The email address and phone number from the banned account are blocked from signing up again, and that block is stored separately from the account itself. Evading a ban with a new number is itself a reason for the new account to be removed.
Will deleting my banned account let me start fresh?
No. Deleting removes your profile, photos, matches and messages — it does not lift the block on your email and phone. If you want to appeal, appeal first; deletion is permanent and there is nothing to restore afterwards.
Someone reported me out of spite. Am I banned?
A report is not a ban. It puts the reported conversation in front of a moderator, who reads it in full. A report that turns out to be retaliation for being turned down does not cost you your account.
My photo disappeared but I can still sign in.
Then you are not banned. A photo can be hidden by the automatic scan pending review, or removed by a moderator, while the account carries on normally. Re-upload a different photo, or write to us if you think the removal was wrong.
Does losing my verification tick mean I am in trouble?
No. The tick comes off automatically whenever a photo is added that does not match your verified face — including a photo with no face in it at all, like a landscape or your dog. Run the camera check again and it comes back.
How long does an appeal take?
Cosmic Match is run by a small team, so it is days rather than minutes. You will get a reply either way. If you have not heard back in a week, send the message again.
What happens to my data while I am banned?
It stays as it is, which is what makes an appeal reversible. If you would rather it did not, you can ask us to delete the account — see Delete your account — but read the second question above first.
