Gurugram is a city almost nobody is from. It grew around offices, and most of its working population arrived in the last decade or so from somewhere else in the country, which makes it one of the easier places in India to meet somebody new and one of the harder places to build a circle slowly. Life clusters around Cyber City and Golf Course Road, where the offices, the high-rises and most of the restaurants are; Sector 29 is the going-out answer; Sohna Road and New Gurugram hold the newer residential sprawl. The Rapid Metro and the Yellow Line handle part of the movement and cabs handle the rest. Hours are long and unpredictable, so plans get rescheduled and nobody treats it as rudeness. A first date here is usually dinner or a drink somewhere between two offices, on a weekday.

Why is it easy to meet people in Gurugram and hard to keep a circle?
