Ahmedabad splits along the Sabarmati, and the two banks have different personalities. The east side holds the old walled city and the pols; the west holds CG Road, Navrangpura, Satellite and the long sprawl of SG Highway, where most of the newer cafés and restaurants are. The Riverfront in between has become the city's default outdoor plan — a walk there is the most common first meeting anyone will suggest. Gujarat has prohibition in force, so evenings out are built around food and coffee rather than bars, and the city is extremely good at both; late-night eating near Law Garden or Manek Chowk is a real local habit and not a novelty. Summers are severe enough that the social calendar moves after dark for months. The universities and design schools keep a steady student population, so ages skew younger than you might expect.

How much does the summer heat change plans here?
A lot, for several months. Between roughly March and June almost everything social shifts to after sunset or indoors, and suggesting an afternoon meeting in May will get you a polite counter-proposal. The cooler months from November onwards are when the Riverfront, the terraces and the street food areas are busiest.
